Koan 1
Argue if you agree that it is a "truth" and if it will always be a "truth."
-I believe that if something is a "truth" it means it is true and you cannot change that. You can't change the truth, you can only come up with another theory or idea greater than the truth. Such as bits in our computers and daily lives, you cannot change that it's just something that will stay existed forever. Your computer successfully creates the illusion that it contains photographs, letters, songs, and movies. All it really contains is bits, lots of them, patterned in ways you can’t see. Your computer was designed to store just bits—all the files and folders and different kinds of data are illusions created by computer programmers. The truth behind computers and programming will always be the truth it will not change, but maybe in the future some genius will prove this truth wrong but for now these truths will stay true and existing.
-How does this koan intersect with your life as a student?
This koan intersects with my life as a student because in my high school my main reason I'm in school is so I can develop my skills of being a web designer and also to graduate. As a web designer, students must learn how computers and programming works so they can get a better taste of what the future is gonna look like. Koan 1 shows that the way students and people communicate on a daily basis isn't so easy it's all made up by bits.Sending text messages, emails, calling on phone, etc. are all ways bits are used. Students should know how bits work and how they are basically like science's atoms.
