Lab 7 Reflection

Image
Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period Lab 7   For this lab we had to basically create our own HTML website which would include all of our labs from 1-7. Many people had designed it different ways, since we had use Adobe Dreamweaver and practiced our coding skills it wasn't too hard. To create the homepage we had to create a hyperlink that made it that once we click on the lab folder it would open to the lab. We had to also link all of our labs to the index.html folder, which was basically the website we had created. This lab was fun but very time consuming and I myself had to rush through this lab so it didn't come out to look so detailed as I wanted it to be. These skills are essential for a web designer because this lab shows one's knowledge of creating a HTML website.

Lab 6 Reflection

Image
Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period Lab 6     For this lab we had to create a banner and a nameplate. What I did first was brainstorm a bunch of colors that would go together. I used Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to create my banner and nameplate. For the banner I just made two different color rectangles and aligned it under each other. I then added text to finish it off, I added a little logo too. For the nameplate I basically did the same thing but I changed up the logo and text. These skills help web designers create a banner and nameplate for their own website. It was a fun lab and I enjoyed working with old softwares from last year,

Lab 5 Reflection

Image
Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period Lab 5    For this lab we were instructed to create a table with columns each having to be something different. It was made up of our favorite foods, movies, subjects, least favorite subjects, favorite music genre, album, songs and our grocery list. This lab was complicated when we were asked to use certain commands like <ol> which is ordered list and <ul> which is unordered list. Each one of these lists have a different function and overall I found this lab to be enjoyable and difficult. These skills will help a web designer create a website whenever he/she is needed to create a table with a certain type of list.

Lab 4 Reflection

Image
Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period Lab 4 For this lab we had to make a chart which inside had color name hex number and its hue color. It was a long process which involved a repetitive code. We used the <table>, <td>,<tr> codes to complete this lab. We were assigned a certain set of colors and the rest I picked my favorite colors from w3schools. To complete this lab I used Adobe Dreamweaver and w3schools.com. Each hex color isn't any ordinary color it contains another name which is like its code number, for example #EFF53R3. These skills are important for a web designer in order for them to create their own websites using specific colors.

Lab 3 Reflection

Image
Brian Sherpa  Digital Design 2/3 Period 9/4/18 Lab 3     For this lab we had to use HTML and image links which were to be linked to three websites: w3schools, techteach.us, and our blogger sites. Honestly I had trouble with this lab, but I got through it after the first hyperlink. When writing these codes you are able to copy and paste instead of typing it all over again. Once I finished the hyperlink for my first website I moved to the next two easily. I used dreamweaver for this lab. These skills are important for a web designer because when creating a website this will help with creating hyperlinks and linking a picture with a link.

Lab 2 Reflection

Image
Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period 8/27/18 Lab 2     For this lab we basically just took our previous lab and added a selfie of ourselves. This was done by using the command "<img src=>." We also added text about ourselves which was a blog intro. I did this by using dreamweaver and photo booth. These skills are important for a web designer when creating a website and adding text and images to it.

Lab 1 Reflection

Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period 9/27/18 Lab 1     For this lab we were instructed to write a basic HTML document, it was easy for most students and similar to the summer homework where we had to write basic HTML documents. I did this lab by using different types of command codes we learned such as "<h1></h1>" which is used to write a heading. These are basic skills for a web designer so they are really essential to get your website started.

Blow to Bits Chapter 3

Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period 9/2/18   - Can you give other examples of abstraction in everyday life? In life there are many examples of abstractions which is for the best and simplest use. Such as  I use a pen to write, but I really have no idea, about how the ink manages to reach the nib. And how it comes from the nib of the pen to the paper. What happens inside the pen is something I have no idea about, all I know is that I can use it to write.  -Discuss how not knowing some basics of how a software tool or computer works, and the abstractions they use, could lead to bad outcomes. Not knowing basics is just going to lead up to difficulties and mistakes. Knowing the basics of how a software tool or computer works is like the main principle of a Web Designer. If he/she doesn't know the basics, their work will be very unprofessional and time consuming. Especially in the field of computer science, if one was to apply for a job outside of ...

Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period 10/8/18    Computer Science education is lacking across the United States, Just 40 percent of schools in the U.S. teach computer programming; computer-science–focused schools, like DPA, are hard to come by. Some policy makers, including those in the Trump administration, have called for employers to look outside of the traditional education system, recruiting from training programs, for example, for the jobs of the new economy. Technology is changing quickly and often, making it difficult for teachers to keep up. Ashton wants to students not only to learn the digital economy but to be part of creating it. The idea is to address a shortage of computer-science education in the nation’s capital, as well as income inequality and a lack of gender and racial diversity in tech.     I believe this article is a great way of expressing the spread of computer science in schools all over t...

Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period 10/1/18    As we know robots struggle with navigation on their own.  MIT researchers have now devised a way to help robots navigate environments more like humans do.  Their novel motion-planning model lets robots determine how to reach a goal by exploring the environment, observing other agents, and exploiting what they’ve learned before in similar situations. Popular motion-planning algorithms will create a tree of possible decisions that branches out until it finds good paths for navigation. A robot that needs to navigate a room to reach a door, for instance, will create a step-by-step search tree of possible movements and then execute the best path to the door, considering various constraints. One drawback, however, is these algorithms rarely learn: Robots can’t leverage information about how they or other agents acted previously in similar environments.     In my opinion I find this article interesting ...

Blown to Bits Apendix

Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period 9/21/18 - It is interesting to think about the foresight (or luck?) that caused initial Internet designers to choose a packet-switched network as the basis for the Internet. What do you think, foresight or luck? :  I think it was foresight that caused initial internet designers to choose a packet-switched network as a basis for the internet. This is because they stated that they needed to allow messages of unlimited size. Another reason is that they needed to ensure that the capacity of the network would be limited only by the amount of data traffic, rather than by the number of interconnected computers. Based on this, I can tell that this was foresight because the thoughts of the people around this time was focused on comparing it to a postal service, but making it better. So overall I think it was foresight. -What do you think the Internet would be like today if different companies’ network protocols were still competing for adoptio...

Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period 9/17/18    A college professor Justin Li  started a discussion outside the realm of a typical computer science class. This lead to  “The goal is to make students consider the real-world implications of what they are doing — that their code is not just abstract problem-solving but may have positive or negative impacts on real people,” Li said. Basically he wanted to use computer science to create logical answers in our lives. He wanted to create a class where students can challenge questions with computer science. He believed computer science can impact and change lives and the way people think in our daily lives. CS is situated in a lot of different places now. It’s not just this discrete thing that’s by itself in a little box,” she said. “In my very first class, there were a variety of math people, science people. I had a politics major in my class, a psych major.”    I believe that his class is a gre...

Brian Sherpa Digital Design 2/3 Period 9/17/18   What I read about was an app  knows when you’ve been in an accident  and then calls 911 for you.  In accidents where you may be unconscious , you might not be able to contact 911 or find help when you're by yourself. This may lead to worse injuries or even death if you don't get help fast. But in some cases in populated areas a stranger might call 911 for you. But life isn't always gonna go your way. So what this app does is that if the sensors    detect a sudden change in motion and force indicating that the user has been involved in an accident, the app alerts 911 without the user’s prompting.  A study  released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that automatic collision notification has the ability to “dramatically” reduce emergency notification times after car accidents, particularly in rural areas. The app will charge $10 a month for its services. When the app...

Blown to Bits Chapter 1

Brian Sherpa Digital Design 9/14/18 (2/3 Period) Koan 1 Argue if you agree that it is a "truth" and if it will always be a "truth." -I believe that if something is a "truth" it means it is true and you cannot change that. You can't change the truth, you can only come up with another theory or idea greater than the truth. Such as bits in our computers and daily lives, you cannot change that it's just something that will stay existed forever.  Your computer successfully creates the illusion that it contains photographs, letters, songs, and movies. All it really contains is bits, lots of them, patterned in ways you can’t see. Your computer was designed to store just bits—all the files and folders and different kinds of data are illusions created by computer programmers. The truth behind computers and programming will always be the truth it will not change, but maybe in the future some genius will prove this truth wrong but for now these truths w...
