Project 2 Reflection

Image
Brian Sherpa 5/24/19 Favorite Teacher Project For this project, our main objective was to create a website based on our favorite teacher. So for this project, I chose Mr.Reid or Coach Reid. I used HTML and CSS to create this website and using my knowledge of basic web design formatting. I had to interview him to get information about him like his hometown, his educational background, etc. I even learned a couple of new things about him. This website has 5 different tabs or sections: Home, Bio, Subject, Trivia, and Sources. To find this information, I had to do a bit of research on the subject he teaches which is Physical Education/Health. It was a long process, we were given 2 weeks, to make 5 webpages as well as write down our teacher's biography and subject and make a trivia which involved student responses on the teacher. It was a big project involving the use of HTML with a combination of CSS to make the project. I faced trouble in writing the biography it required a sepa...

Lab 20 Reflection

Brian Sherpa 4/16/19 Js Comparison Operators Lab #20 works with comparison operators and is similar to the previous labs. This includes mathematical expressions like equal to, greater than, less than, etc. Here's how the program works, you input two numbers and then click any of the comparison operator buttons. It then returns either true or false depending on what the two numbers are. For example, if I input the first number to be 1 and the second number to be 2, and click on the greater than sign, it will return false. This is because 1 is not greater than 2. If the numbers were swapped and I input 2 as the first number and 1 as the second number and then clicked the greater than the operator, it would then return as true. This program consists of comparing, greater than, less than, greater than or equal to, less than or equal to, and not equal to. Web designers would need to know how to utilize these comparison operators in their programs to develop them to perhaps track w...

Lab 19 Reflection

Brian Sherpa 4/5/19 Js Assignment Operators This lab was similar to Lab 18 since it acts as a calculator but instead  of working with arithmetic operators, it deals with assignment operators. Here's how it works. You start with an initial number, the one I chose for my webpage was 10. Then, a user inputs a second value to then either add, subtract, multiply, divide and modulo from. In contrast to lab 18, this lab doesn't just display the value of the first number and the second number only, it is consecutive once you start clicking buttons. For example, if I input 10 as my secondary number and click add, I will get 31 as a result. However if I click add again, instead of displaying 31 again, it will add 10 once more to display 41. Instead of just using arithmetic operators, the values are assigned meaning the value will stay until you reload the page of course. The result will keep changing as you play around with more arithmetic operators and numbers. These skills woul...

Lab 18 Reflection

Brian Sherpa 4/4/19 JS Arithmetic Operators Lab 18 consisted of working with arithmetic operators, similar to how a calculator functions. For this section of the Calculator Movement, I remade a webpage into a calculator that would calculate the arithmetic operators with two users inputted values using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Basically how this function is that a user inputs two values, one for the first number and one for the second number. After this, they can click either of the buttons that run functions to calculate the numbers. For example, if you input the numbers 1 and 2 then click the add button, the result at the bottom will display 3. If you subtract the numbers, you get -1. If you multiply the numbers, you get 2. When you divide them, you get .5. Lastly, when you modulo them you get 1. This works with all numbers and works by storing both values as variables, calculating it and then displaying the result at the bottom. These skills would...

CS Fair 2019 Reflection Journal

Brian Sherpa                                                                                                                         4/2/19    In the CS Fair I had the chance to meet with many professional companies and college students who were showing off their ideas and innovations. To prepare for this CS Fair I thought about all the questions I wanted to ask and how I could relate my web design skills to the activities there. There was this one activity me and my peers did. It was a virtual reality system where I put on a headset and they gave me hand motion controllers which acted as my hand and altered my movement. When I was inside the virtual reality world it f...

Lab 17 Reflection Journal

For this lab our goal was to design a web page where the user could input information, click a button to submit their form, and receive a notification confirming their submission. To create this lab we had to create input boxes with the <form>, <input> tag. We had to create a "Submit" button that takes all the user's information and put its in a message. This is an important skill for web designers because you can successfully create a register page for any type of website you wanted such as youtube sign up page, playstation account register, etc. this is one of the first labs we used JavaScript and I enjoy learning new things so I found this lab interesting.

Lab 16 Reflection Journal

Lab 16 implemented skills from our previous lab to make a web page with a game embedded in it. We were to make a game called The Color Sleuth, a 2 player game in which the players are presented with 4 colored tiles. While the tiles are of the same base color one is slightly different. The player gains a point if they choose the different colored tile and losses 3 points if they choose the wrong one. The 2 players take turn until one gets 10 points and wins the game. For the clicker game we used code.org to create it. The main objective of the game was to click on the heart on the apple. This lab itself was basically the same thing as Lab 15 which we used the <iframe> tag. The codes that were mainly used to create the Color Sleuth  were  switchPlayer() ,   updateScore() ,   setBoard(), and a function that created to check if the answer was correct. Overall this lab was interesting and really challenged my game designing skills, I ...
