Lab 4 Reflection

Image
Lab 4:Brian Sherpa Visual Design      For this project we were given a picture that contained different foods. We had to use our photoshopping skills to use the lasso tool to cut out the different foods. It was a really hard task to be honest, using the lasso tool you need full concentration and a still hand. To make it easier I zoomed in at the specific food and cut it out pixel by pixel. I first cut out the base so the melon as the head. I then cut out everything out and resized everything. At last we just had to paste it on the melon and create a face. But for me it seemed a bit too easy and simple, so I took it a step forward and changed the hue/saturation to change the color of the melon base. Then I pasted is around the melon and I was thinking what should I make. I was thinking about one of those like animals like a platypus but with my own edits. So I made the cucumber as the mouth, the pear as the nose even though I know platypus have beaks not mouth...

Project 1 Warhol Reflection

Image
Project 1: Brian Sherpa Visual Design       For this project we had to take a picture of ourself using photo booth. We then did a project called "Warhol," we used ourselves to then make copies and adjust the colors to change ourselves' appearance. We changed the hue/saturation, and as you can see above it shows me, I cropped only myself to block out any background. I used the magnetic lasso tool in which took me many attempts and took kinda long. I then made copies of the cropped version of myself. I gave them background, I used the color wheel chart which helped me to see the what colors best go together to make improve the quality of the picture. I added color to myself too, it made the Warhol effect and it looked valid. I grouped the layers with the color of myself and the background that goes with the color. This project is useful for me because we can use a regular picture and change it a bit to make it pop more. We can now add colors that are satisfying to the ey...

Lab 5 Brushes Reflection

Image
Lab 5 Brushes: Brian Sherpa Visual Design     For this project, we did a lab where we first drew a picture and later was scanned and we basically drew our picture on photoshop but with the brush tools. I used the brush tool to apply color to it and to better develop the drawing. It was really complicated because using a brush on the computer is obviously not the same as hand drawing it. Like coloring in specific places like coloring the background only, I basically just used the magic tool and selected the background so I could only color it orange. I did the same for the water making it blue and I had a really hard time drawing the waves of the water. Making the birds too, was really difficult and I found a way how to draw them by making them thin and not like an actual bird but more like a flying bird. The sun was drawn with precision and making the semi-circle was also really annoying to do. But in the end it looked like the original picture but I added some extra ...

Lab 6 Shapes Reflection

Image
Lab 6 Shapes: Brian Sherpa Visual Design       For the project, we did something similar to Lab 5 we drew a regular picture then it was scanned. We then worked on it by getting the shapes that looked similar to the drawing like finding the bird shape, the sun was a circle which was then stretched out, the waves and clouds too. It took really long to find these specific shapes given the whole list of shapes. But when you find the shapes you have to make sure to place it in the right places like I put the sun behind the waves. Also to make more sense the shapes should be colored in to make more sense like I colored the background orange to represent the sunset and I added a layer behind the sun to create like a realistic shadow of the sun. This will help us in the future if we was to design logos or pictures using shapes. We can rely on our shape drawing skills and now I know how to resize the shape to create a valid picture. At the end I like how my...

Lab 7 Reflection

Lab 7: Brian Sherpa Visual Design      For this project, we had to do things with filters like adding filters to our labs. First we need a photo of ourselves and then we simply added the Liquify filter which I played around with it a bit and got a weird face as you can see in the first pic. We did this for each picture, like for the second picture I used the Sponge filter and made it look like a sponge bridge. The third picture I used the Poster Edges filter which created a more sharper picture and made it look more animated. The fourth picture I used the smudge stick filter and it made the bridge look blurry and smudged. The fifth picture I used the neon glow filter which basically just made the bridge look like it's glowing a redish orange color. The last one I used the glowing edges filter and it looked like the bridge's points and edges were literally glowing, this was probably my favorite filter. This helps our understanding of using the filters to edit our pict...

Lab 9 Reflection

Image
Lab 9: Brian Sherpa Visual Design       For this project, we typed our name regularly with no special effects. We duplicated the layer of our name 5 more times to create them in separate from each other as you can see above in the picture. We had to get each layer and right click on it to get the blending options, from there for each layer I would add a certain effect like I used the effects like drop shadow, pattern overlay, gradient overlay, and effects. But within these blending effects there are specific options you could change like the color, satin, inner glow, gradient overlay, pattern overlay, and stroke. I enjoyed this project because like I could change something simple like my name and make it different with effects, it enhances the text. I believe this will help us web designers to improve our learning and understanding of using the text tool. We can also make better logos due to this teaching.

Lab 8 Reflection

Image
Lab 8: Brian Sherpa   Visual Design     For this project, we basically were given a picture of this turkey and then we were to only select the turkey and blur the background. For this I used the magnetic lasso tool to only select the turkey. From there I just used the blur tool and blurred the background. This was not that hard because in the other labs we had used the lasso tool many times. After blurring the background, I changed the canvas size's width and height to create like a half white background on the top and the turkey on the bottom. This helps us web designers to create cards like this one when I print it out you can fold it and "Happy Thanksgiving," is written on it.
